2G Switch off , April 2018 – all you need to know

As we continue to develop and invest in our mobile network we need to close down older network technologies like 2G. Like many of the world’s leading mobile operators who have already done this, it means we are able to focus and invest in technology that offers better services for our customers now and into the future.

What does that mean in practise?

If you have a 2G mobile phone (just voice calls and texts) it will no longer work on our network from April 2018.

What do I need to do if I am on Pay as you go?

It’s very simple, just come into our store by the beginning of March at the latest and we will offer you the choice of a FREE new 3G mobile phone, when you top up either £30 or £40.

What do I need to do if I am on Pay monthly?

Simply pop into our store with ID to upgrade.

How do I know if I have a 2G mobile phone?

We will be contacting customers by phone as well as sending text messages and email, but if you are unsure, come and visit us in store with your current mobile phone.

What do I need to think about when transferring to the new phone?

Nothing! We will do everything for you, including transferring all of your numbers to the new phone. The process is seamless and it only takes a couple of minutes in store.

The new phone means you’ll be able to use the internet on the move as well if you want to. We're looking forwards to seeing you in store soon!
