Roam with confidence (Guernsey)

With our great roaming rates, you can stay confidently connected to friends and family without it costing the earth! But to make sure you can roam with confidence, we've put together this handy troubleshooting guide.

• We have roaming agreements in over 100 countries. To check the country you are visiting has a roaming agreement with Airtel-Vodafone click here.
• The UK Country code is 44. When dialling from abroad you need to dial +44 and then delete the first 0 for example +447829. Any stored numbers won't work without the country code.
• Mobile phones usually select a network automatically when roaming. If this does not happen see our Voice Roaming guide below.
• Please note you will also be charged to check your voicemail while roaming.

Voice Roaming

iPhone

• Go to Settings → Phone → SIM Applications.
• Click Roaming Manager then select Home.
• Re-enter your PIN if prompted.
• Return to the Settings menu → Carrier and turn off Automatic. Manually select a network from one of our roaming partners. This list is available here.

Android

1. Go to Settings → Wireless & networks → Mobile networks → SIM Services.
2. Click Roaming Manager then select Home.
3. Re-enter your PIN if prompted.
4. Return to Mobile network settings → Network operators. Manually select a network from one of our roaming partners. This list is available here.

Data Roaming

iPhone

How to activate your data roaming

1. Go to Settings → Mobile Data and turn on Mobile Data.
2. Select Mobile Data Options and turn on Data Roaming.
3. In the same menu go to Mobile Data Network and enter the APN: airtel-ci-gprs.com

How to turn off your data

If you don't need data while abroad follow these easy steps. 

1. Go to Settings → Mobile Data and turn off Mobile Data.
2. Select Mobile Data Options and turn off Data Roaming.
3. In the same menu go to Mobile Data Network and delete all active APN's replace with a dummy one, EG 123
4. Finally, we recommend turning off the Wi-Fi Assist function as this switches your phone to mobile data if it senses a low Wi-Fi signal. Return to the mobile data menu and scroll right down to the bottom and turn off Wi-Fi Assist.

Android

How to activate your data for roaming

Activating your internet settings:

1. Go to Settings → Wireless & networks → Data usage and turn on Mobile data.
2. Return to the Wireless & networks menu → Mobile networks and turn on Data roaming.
3. Finally, select Access Point Names and add the following APN: Name:- Airtel, APN:- airtel-ci-gprs.com

Rates for receiving a Voicemail and listening to a Voicemail will be charged at the same rate for receiving and making calls within your roaming location.
